If you’ve been watching the local telly programming, you’d likely have come across this man, Pornsak. The Thai-Chinese host is a popular celebrity, made famous by various local variety shows in Singapore. Pornsak currently hosts FOOD SOURCE (食在好源头), a hit TV programme on Channel 8 into it’s third season which sees him hunting down the freshest and yummiest recipes.
And yes, he’s also a brand ambassador for way too many products and services for me to mention, like Mama Lemon Dishwashing Liquid and all things remotely embraced by heartlanders and aunties!
Being such a foodie, it was only natural that Pornsak eventually ventured into the restaurant business and started “Porn’s Sexy.Thai.Food”, a chain of eateries featuring cuisine that is close to Porn’s roots and heart – Thai cuisine!
The nation has a penchant for good Thai food and this can be seen in the number of Thai restaurants that are popping out all around Singapore and Porn’s was well-received by foodies with a love for all things Thai.
In the short two years since Pornsak and his partner Foo Chuan Hao opened the first Porn’s branch in Liang Seah Street, the chain has met with tremendous success and expanded to include outlets all across the island at Upper East Coast, Mount Faber SAFRA, Junction 10 and The Star Vista.
The name of the restaurant being so provocative may have attracted widespread attention, but it boils down to the quality of the food, passion of the two founders and their dedicated staff which has made the restaurant chain such a hit.
Much thought has gone into creating a cosy and an almost authentic Thai experience at Porn’s . All of Porn’s head chefs are Thai and they are able to replicate most accurately the uniquely Thai taste. The restaurant also features thoughtful Thai inspired or sourced decorations which add to the atmosphere.
We were at the Mount Star vista at Buona Vista of Porn’s and was so surprised by the thoughtful planning and interior design of the restaurant.
Cute props like wooden rocking horses, chairs, ice machines, gritty wooden tables and chairs sourced from Thai schools and even little Thai toys make you feel like you’ve stepped into Thai restaurant in Thailand albeit a very clean one.
