Lau Pa Sat (or “Old market” in the Hokkien dialect) was Singapore’s first wet market that dates back over 150 years ago to the time of Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore and has been gazetted as a national monument since 1973
Lau Pa Sat is popular with the lunchtime crowds of business workers and at night is transformed into a satay centre with outdoor hawker stalls
Lau Pa Sat is called “Satay Street” by the local residents, it is vibrant with the sights, sounds, and smells of Asia
